Araw ng mga Guro (National Teachers Day) 2022

We celebrate Filipino teachers for National Teachers' Day, especially our very own Shirley E. Alambra

Through the Department of Education (DepEd) Philippines, the country celebrates National Teachers' Day every year on October 5. This year's theme for National Teachers' Day was Gurong Pilipino: Dangal ng Sambayanang Pilipino (Filipino Teachers: Pride of the Filipino Nation).

The events were hosted by the DepEd Cordillera Administrative Region and intended to highlight and honor Filipinos in the teaching profession.

DepED expressed hope that the celebrations would serve as “an opportunity in building the image of teaching as an attractive and fulfilling profession” and “generate widespread support and assistance for teachers.” DepEd urged former and current students to “express gratitude for the positive influence of teachers on Filipino learners.”

For Araw ng Mga Guro 2022, our very own Founder & Executive Director, Shirley E. Alambra, was honored by DepEd with an Outstanding Teacher Award for her work with our Mountain View Free Learning Center during the pandemic. Shirley currently leads a core team of volunteer teachers in providing basic reading and math lessons for kids in the remote mountain community of Sitio Culasisi, Antipolo who lack access to formal education.

Congratulations to Shirley and thank you to everyone who supports our learning center and programs in the Philippines.
