Bigay Puso sa Pasko celebrates its 11th year this upcoming Christmas and goes to Mindanao for the first time
Despite the challenges and setbacks of 2020, last year marked our biggest Bigay Puso sa Pasko to date. We received our largest amount in donations for a single Christmas in Bigay Puso history, and distributed Jollibee meals, grocery packages, toys, and school supplies for 450 students in our usual communities in Payatas and West Fairview in Quezon City on December 12, 2020, as well as in our new community in the remote mountain area of Sitio Culasisi in Antipolo, Rizal on December 21, 2020.
Bigay Puso sa Pasko (Give Your Heart on Christmas) is an annual Christmas outreach program for underprivileged children in the Philippines. The project was foundd by teacher Shirley E. Alambra in 2011 at Lupang Pangako Elementary School in Payatas after she saw that her students had no food or gifts at their previous Christmas parties, some eating sardines as their only holiday meal. Built on a former landfill, Payatas is a predominantly urban poor barangay in the northeastern district of Quezon City and remains one of the most impoverished areas in Metro Manila.
With the help of sponsors, she provided 100 students with meals from Jollibee, groceries, and toys at the first Bigay Puso sa Pasko event, complete with a special appearance by Jollibee. The event became an annual tradition and has grown to include nearly 2,500 participants since it began in 2011.
Bigay Puso sa Pasko will be celebrating its 11th year this upcoming Christmas in the communities of Payatas, Quezon City and at our Mountain View Free Learning Center in Sitio Culasisi in Antipolo, Rizal. We are also happy to announce that Bigay Puso sa Pasko will be expanding to another new community this year: Malita, Davao Occidental, Mindanao
